The beauty of an early access game is being able to look at something funky, say “that’s not right,” and as long as you’re correct and not an irritating know-it-all making feedback that’s not actually helpful, see it changed in (very slow) real-time. Paralives‘ latest update is here, and with it comes an improvement (?) to the life sim’s babies after a number of people complained at how they looked.
Essentially, a lot of folks found the babies kind of unsightly before. To me, they were fantastic little homunculi that could do no wrong, but I am an annoying contrarian, so perhaps I’m not the one whose advice should be followed when it comes to games that are meant to somewhat accurately, even if stylistically, recreate the real world. These babies now look admittedly more baby-like, which will be a win for some, but I am taking this opportunity to say: I will miss you homunculi babies.
Moving on swiftly! Here’s everything else that’s a part of this update. Continuing on with babies for a brief moment, they will now be born directly into your Para’s arms as opposed to “unceremoniously on the pavement.” A lot of minutiae relationship interactions have been added in too. Friends and family can now hug one another, for one, and with a high enough friendship level, friends can move in together. You can now assign a Para to a specific side of the bed. And clicking on a bed, or on a Para, can initiate saucy acts like smooching or getting intimate, wink wink, nudge nudge.
The game’s world, Melino, now has street addresses and names to make it easier to track which lot is which, and your townies will now appear on the town map too as an optional toggle. Para’s lifespans have been adjusted, bumping up the average from 98 days to 112. A few new floor textures are available to decorate your home with. Also, dead Paras should “no longer remain lying down in the street for days on end.” And quite cutely, Dorfromantik has been added to the list of games your Paras can play.
